Junior Savers Limited - Human Resource Internship

The HR Intern provides quality HR compliance and administrative support to The HR Team clients and teammates. This support is based from The HR Team office. Interns are responsible for maintaining satisfied clients by delivering assistance and administrative support to HR generalists and consultants on various projects.



Develop and Maintain HR Compliance Knowledge

ü  Begins to develop a current knowledge of HR Laws and Regulations.

ü  Keeps abreast of new developments in the HR field.

ü  Develops a working knowledge of HR information databases and searchable resources.

ü  Keeps abreast of Document retention requirements


Pursue an Attitude of Learning and Development

ü  Attends seminars and meetings relative to the HR profession.

ü  Cultivate interpersonal skills

ü  Develop negotiating and public speaking skills

ü  Foster time management skills


HR administration

ü  Track progress, deadlines, and priorities of all projects

ü  Prepare Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents

ü  Proofread HR documents including audits, marketing information, and handbooks.

ü  May be responsible for making meeting and travel arrangements

ü  Ensure Career Builder and Monster job packs are current with available job ads

ü  Audit HR Plus, Washington Post, and Baltimore Sun invoices

ü  Manage Pre-Employment Processes

ü  Track cost and effectiveness of media outlets for job postings

ü  Post new positions on various websites including Monster.com, Career Builder.com, Washington Post.com, and HotJobs.com

ü  Sort incoming resumes and logs them into appropriate tracking spreadsheets

ü  Complete and mail out regret letters

ü  Coordinate candidate interviews, physicals, and testing

ü  Send background checks to HR Plus and save results when they are returned

ü  Complete and mail out offer letters

ü  Manage Client Satisfaction

ü  Maintain a satisfied level of customer service with clients both internal and external.

ü  Properly handle client requests through responsiveness, follow-up, and escalation.



ü  Work proactively with other team members.

ü  Prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on joint projects.

ü  Handle client requests and deliver quality solutions if able, or escalate the request to a more senior team member

ü  Openly share new ideas and information with other team members.

ü  Keep other team members apprised to avoid surprises and disappointed clients.

ü  Manage and Accurately Report Time and Expenses.

Marketing and Communications Intern

Junior Savers Ltd believes that every child in Zambia deserves to be equipped with financial literacy from the time they are young enough to know the difference between the value of K1 and 50 ngwee. Junior Savers Ltd embraces the use of technology and creative cost effective methods of operations. Most of our work can be done in the comfort of your own homes while some of it requires that you are on site. We intend to give school leavers, students and graduates the experience to excel by taking part in real life work experiences. Interns will get the chance to participate and even take lead roles to give them confidence, inspire and empower them.

Position: Marketing and Communications Intern

Description: seeking a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications

efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing.


Update and maintain social media presence.

Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories.

Designing flyers, graphics, and other marketing material for major events hosted by JS.

Update the JS website when needed.

Organize and attend monthly marketing committee meetings.

Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message about JS mission to end poverty housing.

Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications.


Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space

Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English,

Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)

Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus

An effective communicator, both written and oral

Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts

Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

Enthusiasm for the mission of JS and the people we serve.

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 – 6 month commitment.

Hours: 3 days a week. 4 hours each day.

Compensation: This is an Unpaid internship for the first 6 months. Allowances to do your work will however be given.

Junior Savers Ltd embraces the use of technology and creative cost effective methods of operations. We intend to give school leavers, students and graduates the experience to excel by taking part in real life work experiences. Interns will get the chance to participate and even take lead roles in radio and TV interviews as well as writing articles online and on print media as authors.


General responsibilities:


  • • Assisting with planning and implementation of public relations and media relations programs and campaigns.


  • • Research, write and edit communication materials in various mediums, including press releases and newsletters.


  • • Assist with writing and uploading of content for the public website and social media pages.


  • • Proofreading (print and electronic).


  • • Assist as needed on special projects and special events.


  • • Track results of media coverage.


  • • Various administrative support and other duties as assigned.






  • • Junior or Senior communications and public relations majors preferred.


  • • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as have experience in the basic skills needed in the PR and communications fields.


  • • Strong grammatical and proofreading skills required.


  • • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite



Schedule: Flexible, 2 -3 days per week, depending on availability
